Life’s Simple Pleasures can be found anywhere you look

Golden LivingCenter-Continental Manor of Randolph celebrates
life's simple pleasures with our residents every day, and on the
top of their list is the pleasure of visiting with family and
friends. To provide more opportunity for loved ones to visit,
Continental Manor has open visiting hours making it possible for
anyone to visit at their convenience. And throughout the
year, there are plenty of parties and gatherings arranged by the
activity staff where inviting family, friends and community members
are encouraged to attend to spend time with our residents and join
in the fun.
A relaxing morning
Aside from the number one pleasure of visiting, our residents have
specific pleasures that make them happy. Josie loves to snuggle in
her bed and sleep late in the morning. Our staff knows to
keep her door closed and wait for her to wake naturally, before
bringing her breakfast. Hank and Bertha love their coffee, so we
make sure a steaming cup is available as soon as their day starts.
As Hank always says, "It’s the best coffee in town."
Our residents are game for simple pleasures
Betty's simple pleasure is enjoying the challenge of word puzzles,
so we make sure to have plenty of puzzle books on hand. Edna loves
popcorn every afternoon. When the aroma starts wafting
through the LivingCenter she has a smile on her face and is first
in line for a bag. Helen enjoys reading her mystery books while
Mary loves knitting her famous multicolored dish clothes. Linda's
favorite is watching her soap operas so the staff makes sure that
any rehab is done before or after her shows. Cora, Fred, June,
Betty and Denise enjoy the simple pleasure of watching their TV in
the privacy of their room. A favorite pleasure of Bernie, Ed, Vern,
Mark, Marie and Jane is playing cards, dominoes, checkers or
dice. In the lounge after supper and before bed you will
always find a fun game in progress with much laughter and
talking.
Pampering is a pleasure
When living at home a number of our ladies had their hair and nails
done once a week so after the ladies have their shower they head to
the salon to get their hair set for free. We have a
professional hair dresser on-site to give perms, cuts and colors.
Ruth and Maddy have beautiful nails and along with a number of
others, enjoying around the table with our activity staff getting
their nails filed, polished and buffed.
Something’s cooking
The activity department
realizes that most of our ladies did plenty of cooking and baking
while they were home. So whether it's making fruit pies, pigs in
the blanket, donuts, cookies or assorted breads, you can count
on Pat, Clara, Nancy, Susan, Martha, Audrey, Marie or Elsie
to be slicing, dicing, rolling, mixing or dusting to make something
yummy for coffee clutch or an afternoon delight.
These are just some of the simple pleasures the residents enjoy at
Golden LivingCenter - Continental Manor, and it is the goal of our
staff to continue to make their stay as homelike and pleasant as
possible.
